On November 27, 2019, Rijatiana RAMANTSALAMA, PhD student under the supervision of Dr. Denis Dacheux from Dr. Derrick ROBINSON's team, received the Best Poster Award at the First French-UK International Conference on Cilia, Flagella and Centrosomes [Website]. His work, co-financed by ParaFrap, focuses on the identification and characterization of a novel basal body protein, essential for the bloodstream form of the parasite responsible for African Human Trypanosomiasis (HAT), Trypanosoma brucei.
Congratulations to Rija and Derrick Robinson's team!
Magamba Tounkara, PhD student in the ParaFrap South program under the supervision of Dr. Loïc Rivière (Dr. Frédéric Bringaud's team), received the 1st Prize for the best poster at the 35th Conference of the International Scientific Council For Trypanosomiasis Research And Control (ISCTRC) held from 23 to 27 September 2019 in Abuja, Nigeria.

The project aims to study a new paradigm for trypanosomoses: interaction of extravascular trypanosomes with tissue adipocytes via glycerol metabolism. |
On 11 February 2019, following an evaluation by a jury of international experts, the LabEx ParaFrap was officially extended for 5 years (2021-2024).
Following this announcement, ParaFrap launched a call for applications in order to join the best strengths of French parasitology by welcoming new partners into its consortium.
The applications were evaluated independently by the eSAB. Following this evaluation, 9 candidates were selected to join the LabEx ParaFrap.
BASTIN Philippe | Institut Pasteur | Trypanosoma |
CLAESSENS Antoine | CNRS | Plasmodium |
COHUET Anna | IRD | Plasmodium |
GAMAIN Benoit | CNRS | Plasmodium |
GLOVER Lucy | Institut Pasteur | Trypanosoma |
LAURENT Fabrice | INRAE | Cryptosporidium |
LAVAZEC Catherine | CNRS | Plasmodium |
SPAETH Gerald | Institut Pasteur | Leishmania |
TARDIEUX Isabelle | CNRS | Toxoplasma |
These 9 new partners join Chetan CHITNIS and Didier MENARD (Institut Pasteur), recently integrated into our network for their outstanding work on malaria, particularly on drug resistance and vaccination, two essential aspects of the new scientific project of LabEx ParaFrap.
